Winking

One has finally got it, and one is still far away. Emma raised the ante with the winking, finger pointing combo. I think there might have been a "you got it dude" in there too. What can I say? We are some cool kids.

Riveting Television

TV time
We have some mighty big Daniel Tiger fans here. It is border line addictive behavior, but the show's catchy tunes have been rather beneficial in our preschool development. Because after all, "If you have to go potty, stop, and go right away. Flush, and wash, and be on your way."

Morning story

Patrick has been hard at work re-doing the playroom. In his zero dollar remodel he has unearthed treasures that have been forgotten. This book was one of them. The girls were unusually productive this morning. They were dressed, had breakfast, and were both ready to go to school with out me rushing them out the door. That left them with time to enjoy this book together. Unhurried moments are rare in our mornings, but when they do happen they are magical.

Finger Knitting

fingerknit, originally uploaded by bsuvalz.

Emma went to the yarn store with me to pick out yarn for a doll's hair that I was working on. She really wanted yarn to make something. I let her pick out a skein, and the cashier asked her if she had plans with the yarn. She told the cashier she was going to finger knit everyone scarves. The cashier said well you might need some more to practice and handed her this lovely pink yarn for free. There are good people in this world and so often yarn stores shun children. The store has officially secured my business. Thank you Knit Stop for making my daughter so delighted!

Another tooth

Another tooth bites the dust...

And then another ones gone, and another one bites the dust

"Mama, my tooth feels weird and more wiggly. Oh, look Mama it is really bleeding now. Ah, it's out!!" Thirty minutes later. "Look Ma the other one is out too." Might as well get them both out at once, that is one way to stall bedtime.

Sledding

sledding pesledding
The snow has completely melted by now. But when it was in full snow glory we took the kids sledding. They both were a bit timid about the idea of hurling their body on a plastic disc down a large snow covered hill. Emma warmed up to the idea faster than Claire, but when we found a small hill for Claire she was the one that had to be pulled from the snow. I think even I may be up for one more round of snow for more sledding.

Faces of concentration

Claire didn't sleep well the night before, but insisted on building a marble run. She picked a complicated design that was very difficult on my sleep deprived mind. We finally got it together and enjoyed for many days watching the marbles roll. Marbles that led to excitement, pensiveness, and curiosity.
