Cereal for Dinner

It isn't a meal I serve often for dinner, but our new schedule has changed our typical plans a bit. I asked Emma what she wanted for dinner, and she said cereal. I thought well that does sound quick and easy to me, let's do it!

I even let them pick out their cereal. Emma picked Mallow-Oats. It was a long day and it sounded good to me. I didn't even look to see how much sugar was in it, I just bought it, and served it. It was a strange feeling not censoring their diet, but it was in the health food isle so it at least wasn't completely bad. Emma loved cereal for dinner and had two bowls and a banana. Claire was like any typical kid went straight for the marshmallows, and like a completely untypical child she threw them on the floor.

Pumpkins!

Let the pumpkin carving begin! Emma anticipated this moment for so long, it was torture to have the pumpkins sitting there so whole and bland. Every day around dinner time the questions would begin "Mom, is it pumpkin carving time yet?" "When are we going to carve the pumpkin." Finally that time arrived, and she was so excited.

Claire was a little unsure of the whole process, and looked on intently.

Some girls were deep in legos, and hard at work.

Halloween Box

Pink and Green Mama, Mary Lea recently blogged her Halloween sensory box. I was sold on the idea. I went to the dollar tree snagged some goodies, went to the pantry grabbed some beans, and I got the under the bed storage container that held the girls' bed linens. I placed the linens in a zipper bag for under the bed. I dumped the beans. I set up the furniture, and we were ready to be "fooky"
It has been fun for everyone. I am looking forward to keeping this up, and switching it monthly if not more!

Plastic skeleton rings make great masks for the Playmobile people. There weren't enough "masks" so some are wearing spiders on their backs.

We have found that window clings work great for the side of the box. Another level of play could be added with the addition of window clings.

5 yr. Anniversary

Patrick surprised me a month ago. He had his parents watch the girls while we stayed in a Cabin in S. IL. It was beautiful we did some intense hiking, and some not so intense hiking. We happened upon a wine trail, and that was a great highlight. Driving around sampling wine, looking at the scenery, and talking. Talking about things that didn't involve what Curious George was doing. We were free to not plan, and free from planning something based on nap/ snack/ the size of Emma's bladder.

We both may be a bit nutty ;) We may get in the habit of doing our own things, and forgetting to work as a couple. We may find that we are too busy for time together, but in the end we do complete each other. I look forward to many more years!

Some Sewing

My Other Sister (sister-in-law) asked for three dresses for her youngest daughters. I was testing a new pattern also. I had to make sure it fit properly so Emma obliged to model, and test the fit. She certainly has a look going on here. She definitely rocks this look so she needed her own and I am working on hers.
